Afrobeats and Hi-Life singer Kuami Eugene has observed a worrying trend that has become an impediment in the growth of Ghana music, relative to the Nigerian music industry.
The Lynx Entertainment signed singer said there is nothing like “Movements”, “Gangs” and “Nations” in Nigeria and that’s why their music is flourishing everywhere in the world compared to Ghana.
In
an interview with MzGee on 3FM, Kuami Eugene said because of these
demarcations in fan bases, there’s no unity that ultimately retards
progress.
He
said: “Fan
bases make it difficult to organize shows in Ghana. It’s not like
that in Nigeria. There ain’t any Davido Movement nor Wizkid Nation.
Shatta Movement, Bhim Nation, Sark Natives and other groups in Ghana
music is not necessary. “
Kuami
Eugene added: “There
are too many movements, too many gangs, too many Army in GH
entertainment industry and because of that, there is a division;
music lovers want to only support their favorite artists and not
everyone as in the case of Nigeria”
